Worship

“Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands! Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.” - Psalm 100: 1-2

Music is an integral part of our worship services in the Episcopal Parish of Alton.  An organist and volunteer “hymn leader” encourage congregational singing during Sunday Mass at Trinity Chapel.  At St. Paul’s Church, the three-manual, 37 rank organ resounds a glorious and majestic prelude to Mass every Sunday, as well as for special holiday services.

Blessed with rich musical talent within our parish family, St. Paul’s organist/choir director directs a volunteer choir of parishioners whose voices bring an added richness to our worship service and Holy Eucharist.  Occasionally our music worship is graced with the accompaniment of talented guest instrumental and vocal soloists from our parish and community or even a special performance by our Children’s Handbell Choir.

While our worship service incorporates the singing of traditional hymns and classical organ accompaniment, contemporary instrumental and vocal music, as well as alternative settings, are occasionally used for celebration of the Eucharist.
