Christian education is an important ministry for all ages in the Episcopal Parish of Alton.   Opportunities for spiritual growth and Bible study are offered throughout the year in various formats of instruction, study, and discussion designed to help adults gain a deeper grounding in their Christian faith.

An Adult group meets in an informal setting prior to Sunday worship at St. Paul’s.  Beginning Sunday, September 12, 2016 we will be studying the book Half Truths.

True or False?

1. God helps those who helps themselves; 2. Everything happens for a reason; 3. God won’t give you more than you can handle; 4. God said it, I believe it, that settles it!  5. Love the sinner, hate the sin

We’ve heard these phrases all our lives, but in Adam Hamilton’s new book, we’ll learn that, although they capture some element of truth, when compared to the wisdom found in scripture, they’re really just common clichés.

Don’t miss this five-week DVD-based study!

Tuesday Morning Holy Eucharist and Bible Study will resume on September 13 at Trinity Chapel with Mass at 9:30 a.m., some really good snacks and Bible study following from 10:15 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.  Mother Cindy and Mother Jane will be leading us on a journey through the Revelations of Jesus Christ according to John.  All are welcome for mass and/or Bible study.  We learn so much, have great fellowship and laugh a lot.  Please come join us.

There will be a Bible study group for people with any level of knowledge about the Bible beginning on Wednesday, September 14 from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  We'll share a homemade meal as we learn more about God and ourselves through the Scriptures.

During the Lenten season, celebration of the Eucharist is followed by our Wednesday evening program series accompanied by a light supper consisting of soup, cheese and bread.  The format for this program series varies from year to year ranging in format from in-depth Biblical focus group discussion, guest speakers, or video training programs.

We also invite you to visit our parish Library located in the hall adjacent to the office.  Also we have a Bookstore and Gift Shop located in Heneghan Hall at St. Paul’s, and peruse our excellent selection of books, devotional guides, videos, audios, CD’s or DVD’s available for individual study and spiritual enrichment.
